👋 Hello Friends!

Welcome to Never Finished — the newsletter for professionals who are done applying to 200+ jobs and getting ghosted.

Each week, I share 3 short ideas to help you land interviews on demand — no résumé roulette required.

Let’s get you moving again.

🛋️ The Couch, The Movie, And The Job Board You Never Open

Last Sunday night you applied to 14 jobs in two hours, closed the laptop, and thought okay, I did something this week.

You haven't opened it since.

Then the week happened. Meetings ran late, your manager threw something at you at 5:30 PM one day, and most nights you got home, ate, and that was it — you're not opening a laptop to write cover letters after all that.

Before you knew it, it was the weekend again.

And there you are, back on the couch with Netflix on, telling yourself you'll apply after this one episode — because the weekend's the only time the week leaves you.

She was stuck in the same Sunday couch search you are — movie on, job board open, nothing really happening.

One small change got her a Senior Data Analyst role at a logistics startup — a 60% raise.

🔑 How She Landed The Role — And The 60% Raise

A few months ago a Senior Data Analyst reached out to me. She'd been at her company three years, made good pay, had the kind of job most people would want — but her manager kept taking credit for her work, and when promotions came out, her boss walked over to congratulate the guy sitting next to her — for the project she'd built alone.

When she reached out, she told me:

"Ajay, I want to leave. I've wanted to leave for a year."

"But every time I sit down after work to look for jobs, I'm already exhausted. I apply to a few on the weekend and nothing happens."

"I'm starting to think I'm just stuck here."

Here's the thing I told her: you don't need more hours. You need 60 minutes a day, broken into three.

She almost laughed. "An hour? Ajay, I can barely find ten minutes."

So we found the hour where it was already hiding — the one she spent every night on Instagram, reel after reel, till she looked up and it was 11.

She took that same hour and put it on the search instead — a bit of applying, a bit of messaging recruiters, a bit of prep — a little every day.

6 weeks later she got an interview with the hiring manager at a logistics startup, and after three rounds she cracked it — a Senior Data Analyst role, 60% more than she was making.

🚀3 Habits of a Successful 9-to-5 Job Seeker

So here's exactly what she did with that hour. Three things, twenty minutes each. That's it.

📩 1. Apply to 3–5 relevant jobs — 20 min/day

Don't apply to every job you see.
Focus on roles that match your skills and experience.

💬 2. Reach out to recruiters — 20 min/day

After applying, find the recruiters hiring for those roles and send them a short message.

🎤 3. Prepare for interviews — 20 min/day

Pick 1–2 common interview questions and practice answering them out loud in front of the mirror.

Apply. Reach out. Prepare.

Do this every day for 3 weeks, and the recruiter replies and interview calls start coming.

📜 A Quote That Hit Hard This Week

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”

Will Durant

You don't need more time. You need the same hour, pointed somewhere better.

That hour you lose to your phone tonight? That's the one.

📌 Your Turn

Quick question before you go: how many jobs did you apply to last month — and how many recruiters did you actually message?

Reply with both numbers. The gap is usually the whole problem.

Keep going. You’re Never Finished.
